The Trails Alliance, Tyendinaga and Tweed want you to "cheer them on"

Posted Jan 26, 2012 By Scott Pettigrew

EMC Lifestyles -Regional -The Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance (EOTA), the Municipality of Tweed and the Township of Tyendinaga have partnered to develop a trail between the Tweed Community Centre and the Tyendinaga Recreation Centre and will have a direct link to the surrounding EOTA trails.

An application for $50,000 was submitted to the Molson Coors "Community Cheer" project and has been selected to the next phase and now is featured on their web site.

The Community Cheer process requires members of a project community to vote for their favourite project submitted to OurCommunityCheer.com.When our project receives 225 "Cheers," it then becomes eligible for the final round which will be evaluated by the Molson Coors Community Relations team. We hope to surpass this mark as the number of "cheers" received is the key to the final evaluation stage.

The funding will go toward the development of this trail, "We are pushing our community to 'cheer us on' in this amazing opportunity that we have," says Rick Phillips, reeve of the Township of Tyendinaga. "Not only will the funding help develop the trail, it will give the two municipalities an opportunity to promote recreational activities which will benefit over 10,000 community residents. Please take a moment and 'cheer' for us."

"We are asking for all the support we can get, from within our communities and beyond," says Tweed Reeve Joanne Albert, "We need to show the funding body that a donation to support active living in our communities is a good investment."

Voting starts on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, and goes until Friday, February 10, 2012. To vote, like, or upload a photo please visit < www.ourcommunitycheer.com>and cast your vote for the EOTA Rec Centre to Rec Centre Trail.
