Survey to see who wants a multi-purpose trail
Posted Feb 16, 2012 By Kate EversonEMC News -Quinte West - Councillor Keith Reid has proposed that staff send out a survey to all property owners from Frankford to Glen Ross along the former railbed. This would ask if they wanted to keep the Lower Trent Trail for walking only or as a multi-purpose trail which would include motorized vehicles.
Reid asked in council if there was any status on the survey yet. CAO Gary Dyke said he is checking with Infrastructure Canada on the state of the current lease.
The Friends of the Trail has one year left on its five-year lease with Ontario Realty Corporation to manage the trail which stretches from Trenton to Glen Ross.
The trail has been involved in controversy over the years as walkers conflicted with those wishing to use their motorized vehicles, ATVs and snowmobiles on the trail.
There was no indication from Dyke when the survey would be sent out.
