Quinte Red Devils weekend report
Posted Feb 16, 2012 By EMC NewsEMC Sports - Five of eight Quinte Red Devils teams have qualified for the play-offs. The Minor Atoms will play first-place Clarington, and the second-place Major Atoms will also face off against the Toros. After finishing second, the Peewees will have a first-round rematch with Whitby. The Minor Midgets will face the first-place Peterborough Petes, and the second-place Major Midgets will battle Clarington in first-round play-off action.
Sidney Inn Carpet One The Minor Atoms managed to eliminate the Peterborough Petes on Saturday. Going into a crucial weekend and having to come out with at least two points, Quinte travelled to the Evinrude Centre and punished the Petes with a dominating 6 -2 win. The Red Devils pounced on their opponents early and never looked back. The deflated Petes seemed overwhelmed by Quinte's attack and just couldn't gain momentum.
Having a big day for Quinte was Marshall McFarland who recorded two goals and an assist. Also scoring for the Red Devils were Jacob Gilbert, Adam Thistlethwaite, Karsten Leonard and Jagger Cassidy. Assisting on the goals were Gilbert with two, Jaxen Boyer, Cole Mcguire, Karsten Leonard and Jacob Vreugdenhil chipping in with one apiece. In goal was Nicholas Mcgowan who turned away several shots, and looked very strong as he backstopped the Devils to a big win. A big thank-you to the Evinrude Centre pro shop, as they helped one of the Quinte players in need of some equipment.

Over the weekend the Devils played a home-and-home series with the Central Ontario Wolves. This game had a much different outcome than the previous day's high scoring penalty filled affair, ending in a 1 -1 draw. Quinte's lone goal came from Cole Leal and was assisted by Emmet Pierce. Ethan Taylor was between the pipes
